Colorado State University’s Women’s Rugby team is a Division 1 competitive sport club. Sport Clubs are organizations that give students the opportunity to play their favorite sport at a competitive level. The main differences between a Varsity-level program and a sport club team are the level of funding; no formal recruiting; and we do not have a full time coaching staff. As a sport club, the team receives a limited annual budget from student fee allocations and generates most of their operating budget from dues and fund raising activities. Participating on a sport club team is a good way to keep that competitive edge and have fun at the same time. Dues are $200 per semester and they help cover paying coaches and referees for matches; they also include some hotel and tournament fees as well as paying team and individual registration fees to ERRFU, West and USA Rugby. Each player will receive 1 pair of team shorts and socks as well as a game t-shirt.
Women’s Rugby runs from Fall to Spring with practices on Tuesdays and Fridays and games on Sundays. As a member of the Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union (ERRFU) we play other highly competitive teams including the University of Colorado, U.S. Air Force Academy, Wyoming, University of New Mexico, and University of Northern Colorado. Our goals are to establish ourselves as a dominate presence in the western territory which includes ultimately winning D1 regionals and placing in the final four of nationals held in California. | |
