When the program was dropped from Division I standings, the Colorado State University baseball team was immediately accepted as a sport club. The main difference between the Division I program and a sport club is the budget. As a sport club, the team receives a limited annual budget from the University. The majority of the team’s funds are generated by the players and coaching staff through fundraising activities and fees.

Although education is the number one priority at Colorado State University, the coaching staff expects a major commitment. The team practices daily between 3:30 and 6:00pm throughout the academic year. Classes should be scheduled around this time. Double headers are played on the weekends. Occasionally games are scheduled on weekdays during practice time. Our season is split into a fall and spring season. We play an average of 25 games in the fall and 50-60 games in the spring. The teams we play include Junior Colleges in the western states, as well as Wyoming, University of Colorado, , UNC.

Our team consists of people who love to play baseball and are able to have fun while holding their competitive edge. To maintain the success of the program, top quality, highly motivated individuals are needed. Currently, there are several players who have contributed to successful NCAA and Junior College teams. The Colorado State baseball team provides an excellent opportunity for players who have not recently played. It is not uncommon for the team to pick up an individual who has had a year or more away from the game for an extended injury, or for some other reason.
